Harwich & Dovercourt Beach Hut Association was formed 16 years ago with an aim to improve the safety & well being of the beaches & coastal water around the town. One of our founder members Betty Holloway was responsible for the town gaining it’s Blue Flag award, after a long clean up campaign The other aim was to promote the use of the beach huts and improve the facilities supplied to them by the local council. Thirdly to improve the safety of the beach huts by our own regular patrols used to warn members when their huts are damaged by the weather or vandalism.

Dovercourt Theatre Group (DTG) has been an active amateur drama group in the Harwich area since 1974. We meet on most Tuesdays and Fridays from 7:30pm at The Studio, our home behind Harwich Magistrates Court, and perform several productions a year. We have a loyal group of Friends who support us, and enjoy regular social and fund-raising events.

Harwich Peninsula U3A
The University of the Third Age is a national and international network of self-regulating, local associations. The national representative body for U3As in the UK is The Third Age Trust. Members are normally not in full time employment. They form interest groups to continue existing interests or explore new ones. The Harwich Peninsula U3A serves Harwich, Dovercourt and Parkeston and the surrounding villages. Anyone not in full time employment in this area is welcome to join. It was founded in 2006 and currently has over 200 members and 37 interest groups. We have a monthly meeting at 2pm on second Tuesday of the month. We meet at the Marine Suite, Cliff Hotel, Dovercourt. Membership costs £13.50 per annum and covers all the groups you may wish to join.

The Horse Rangers Association is a self-supporting, non profit making organisation whose aim is to enable its members to become associated with, and interested in, horsemanship. Membership is open to young people over the age of 8 who are resident in the Tendring and Colchester area who do not have their own horse or pony. Our aim is to provide riding and the teaching of horsemanship – and to have fun!
Parkeston Railway Motorcycle Club
The club meets every Wednesday night at The Railway Club in Hamilton Street, Parkeston Nr Harwich from 7pm. New members always welcome whatever you ride. We organise weekend ride outs and support local charity events.
